Badminton Practice
There is a mandatory badminton practice tonight at 3:45 in the triple gym for all team members. Bring your forms and fees. The practice will be going to 6:30. No practice tomorrow.

Jr. Boys Rugby
Attention all grade nine and ten boys: Jr. Rugby practices begin tomorrow morning in the triple gym at 7:30 sharp! Any questions please see Mr. Thurley. If you are interested in playing rugby this spring you must be at this practice.
Annual Floor Hockey Game
Once again, it is time for the annual staff vs. life skills/learning centre floor hockey game. The event will take place this Friday, February 24 at 11:45 in the triple gym. Everyone is invited to come out and see this spectacle. The students have trained hard for this day and are confident they will hand the staff their first of two losses this week. The staff, on the other hand, feel that this is finally their year to shine and get a victory. So come out this Friday at lunch to cheer on both sides in what promises to be a floor hockey battle for the ages!

The Senior Jazz Ensemble rehearsal scheduled for today at lunch has been cancelled due to the Staff Student Hockey Game Video Release. Please make your way to the cafe to check out this year’s great video and support this great event at our school. Rehearsals will resume on Friday Morning at 7:45am.

The Jr. Girls volleyball team wrapped up their season on Friday with a loss against Twin Lakes. All girls should be congratulated on their performance this season. Please take your jurseys to Ms. Breedon-Elliot in the gym office today.

Nordic skiers
All nordic skiiers going to ofsaa – there is a meeting at the beginning of lunch today in room 134. Please plan to attend.
MSS Girls Curling Team
Congratulations to the MSS Girl’s Curling Team on their playoff win. In a come from behind battle our Marauders defeated the feline pride of Penetang. Led by our inspirational leader Tori Forget, the courageous curlers overcame a three point deficit after three ends to win 7-4.
The second round of playoffs is next week, good luck curlers.
Jr Boys
Yesterday the junior boys travelled St. Thomas Aquinas for their second round play-off match up. The marauders had a great start jumping ahead 14-4 after the first frame. Although STA kept the pressure on throughout the game the boys fromMidland we not phased as the won the game by a score of 46-26. Jordan Garner led all scorers with 14 points, Matt Leblanc added 12, Mitchel Munroe had 8 and Jeff Stacey scored 6 in the decisive victory. Reminder to all players of the practice at 5 on Tuesday.

MSS Wrestlers
Yesterday, the MSS wrestlers travelled to Barrie Central to compete in the GBSSA championships. All wrestlers fought well to make MSS proud. Competing the tournament was Katharine Johns, Bryna Graham, Pj Neilson, David Anderson and Jesse Leadbetter. On top of this, Morgan Anderson brought home bronze and capturing gold for her weight category was Tara Dayler, who will be heading to OFSAA in the next couple weeks. Congratulations to the entire team, it was a great season, we’ll see you on the mat next year.

Boys Hockey Team
There will be a brief but important meeting for all boys hockey team players TODAY at lunch in the cafeteria. All boys hockey team members must meet at 11:40 today near the stage in the caf. for playoff information.
Junior Boys Basketball
Last night the junior boys basketball team hosted Jean Vanier in their first playoff game. MSS took an early lead and never looked back. The Marauders cruised to a convincing 50-10 win. MSS will face off against St. Thomas Aquentis tomorrow in their attempt to move on to GBSSAs.
Nordic Skiers
It was a sweet day (valentine’s) for our nordic skiers yesterday at their GB’s in Duntroon. Congratulations to all skiers who participated in both individual races and relays. Erika Jaworski skiied with a smile the whole race. Ben Bestvater continued to improve his skiing technique. Katharine Johns was an amazing 3rd in the senior girls relay and the list goes on! Eight of our skiers will be off to ofsaa next week in Huntsville!! Thankyou to all nordic skiers for a really fun and amazing season.
There will be a very important meeting today at the beginning of lunch – room 134 for all going to Ofsaa. Please plan to attend.
Sr Boys Basketball
Congratulations to the Sr boys basketball team who defeated Bradfordyesterday in their home play-off game. Special mention to 5th year players Cory Garner and Kyle Forster who played their best games of the year and showed excellent leadership. By winning yesterdays game the Sr.boys accomplished their goal of qualifying for the GB championships next Friday at St.Peters. It is all gravy from here on out!
Auto Show Club
There will be an Auto Show Club meeting today at the beginning of lunch in Room 126. All current members and anyone else interested in joining the Auto Show Club are invited to attend. The show is coming this May, so get involved! MSS is putting on their own weekend-long Auto Show, and we want you to be part of it. There’s a something for everyone to do. Come and share your ideas. Bring your lunch, and bring a friend to Room 126 today!

Marauder Artists
Calling all Marauder artists! How would you like to see your art in the Yearbook? This year the MSS yearbook is featuring a new section called teacher caricatures. So choose your favourite teacher and start sketching! They must be on a standard 8.5 x 11 piece of paper, but other than that, you’re in control. Please submit your finished caricature to Mrs. Bidwell. The deadline is the beginning of March. Thanks.

Final Exams
Attention all students, your final exams are starting next week. Please make sure you know when and where you are writing your exams and record it on the back of the exam information sheet you have received. Be sure to speak to your teachers as to when and where you are writing your exams.

The Alpine Ski team toughed it out yesterday under harsh conditions as they competed in the Mansfield race outside of Stayner. Top male skier was Jordan Iles followed by Jordon Lavallee and then Brandon Rumball, while the girls were lead by Elizabeth Edgley with an impressive 9th place finish, Jocelyn Faragher and Emily Edgley. Good luck on your exams team and see you after the break!
MSS Pond Hockey Tournament:
The MSS Boys Hockey Team is running a Pond Hockey Tournament on Little Lake during Midland Winterfest on Sat. February 4th. There are still spots available in the high school age division. Thanks to great serves and fierce spirit, your Marauders pulled their St. T’s tournament champion T shirts up and won this league game in three sets. Nordic Ski team
The nordic ski team raced at Mountainview ski hill yesterday amidst the snow and rain with some very good (and somewhat soggy) results! While Ben Bestvater celebrated his birthday by staying on his feet racing down the gully at phenomenal speed, Hailey Edwards scream could be heard at the finish line! Last week Carlin beat Noah and this week the competitive spirit shown with Noah beating Carlin (by one). Gillian Harries is loving the number 5! All should be smiling today with a race well done!
Jr Boys Basketball
Last night the jr boys basketball team traveled to Collingwood and faced off against Jean Vanier in league play. The Marauders were off to a hot start and never looked back winning by a score of 47-23. Jeff Stacey led all scorers with 17 points. Mack Brown had his best game of the year scoring 7 points off the bench. Austin Sutton, Matt Hawke and Nick Molloy-Cadore all came up big for MSS defensively in the decisive win.
Gymnastics
Any girls with gymnastics experience who are interested i competing for the MSS gymnastics team should meet on THURSDAY JANUARY 19 @ 11:40p in room 185. This is a brief organizational meeting only.
Girls Rugby
ON WEDNESDAY JANUARY 18, there will be a meeting for any girls interested in playing GIRLS RUGBY this spring. The meeting will be held in room 185 at the beginning of lunch. No experience is necessary to play rugby. Come on out on Wednesday if you are interested in trying a new sport. For all existing girls rugby players, start recruiting new players….see you Wednesday. If you need more information see Ms. THorpe or Mr. Thompson.
Italy/Greece Trip

Weight Room
The weight room will be closed to all students during class time other than those in pe classes. Lunch time use is still open for weight room tag holders when staff supervision is present. The reason for these changes is an increase in equipment loss. Presently four 25 pound dumbbells have been removed from the weight room without permission. These changes to weight room use will continue to be in effect until further notice or until the missing equipment is returned. If any staff or students have information about the missing equipement please see one of the teachers from the PE Department ASAP.
